After 40, your skin may feel drier, less firm, or just not as radiant. That’s why I started treating smoothies like skincare—because what we feed our skin matters just as much as what we apply to it.
I use a lot of what I learned from my grandmother, who believed in using food to stay healthy and radiant—from the inside out. She didn’t call them smoothies, but her old-world approach to beauty is behind many of the blends I make today.
If you’re curious, I share more about her story—and how it inspired this site—on my About page.
These are part of my glow-up routine: hydrating, collagen-supporting, and so easy to make. Think of them as drinkable skincare—with ingredients that help your skin glow naturally from within.
As we age, it’s not just fine lines we notice—it’s that our skin starts to feel a little thinner, a little drier, and sometimes not quite as “glowy” as it used to. After 40, these changes often have more to do with what’s happening inside your body than what you’re putting on your skin.
Whether you're looking to smooth fine lines, get back your glow, or just feel better in your skin, the right smoothie can help you nourish your skin from the inside out—and actually enjoy the process.
Each of these ingredients supports your skin in a different way—hydration, firmness, calming inflammation, or boosting glow. Add one or two to any blend for extra skin benefits.
These are my go-to blends when my skin feels dry, dull, or just “off.” Each one is made with skin-loving ingredients that support hydration, elasticity, and overall glow.
Whether you're short on time or just not into swallowing supplements, these smoothies make glowing from the inside out easy.
Ingredients:
½ cup frozen mixed berries
1 scoop collagen peptides (unflavored)
1 tbsp chia seeds
¾ cup coconut water
Optional: squeeze of lemon
Directions:
Blend all ingredients until smooth. Add more coconut water to thin if needed.
Why it works:
This blend delivers a powerful mix of vitamin C, antioxidants, and collagen support. Berries help brighten and protect the skin, while collagen and chia seeds support elasticity and hydration—especially helpful for skin over 40.
Ingredients:
1 cup spinach or kale (fresh or frozen)
½ avocado
½ frozen banana
1 tablespoon ground flaxseed
¾ cup unsweetened almond milk
Optional: fresh mint or parsley
Directions:
Blend all ingredients until smooth. Add more almond milk if needed to adjust the texture.
Why it works:
This blend is rich in vitamin A, E, and omega-3s—all of which help support smoother, more elastic skin. The healthy fats from avocado nourish the skin barrier, while the greens help with cell renewal and clarity.
Ingredients:
½ cup frozen mango
½ cup plain yogurt (dairy or non-dairy)
¼ teaspoon turmeric
Pinch of black pepper
½ frozen banana
¾ cup oat milk
Optional: dash of cinnamon or grated ginger
Directions:
Blend all ingredients until creamy and smooth. Adjust the amount of oat milk depending on your preferred consistency.
Why it works:
Turmeric and black pepper work together to reduce inflammation and calm skin. Mango provides vitamin C for collagen support, while yogurt adds gut-healthy probiotics—helping your glow from the inside out.
I call this one timeless glow because it’s inspired by the blend my grandmother made nearly every day. She didn’t think of it as skincare—but her skin was soft, smooth, and glowing well into her 80s.
She used whatever was in season—fresh fruit, garden carrots, parsley, and especially lots of kale for skin health. I’ve kept it simple, just like she did: real food, no powders, no trends—just timeless beauty wisdom that still works today.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1 small apple, peeled and chopped
1/2 ripe banana
1 small carrot, grated or chopped
1/2 cup fresh kale, ribs removed
1 teaspoon honey
Note: Add a splash of almond milk, oat milk, or water to thin if needed. For a digestive boost, try a pinch of cinnamon or fresh parsley.
Directions:
Add everything to a blender and blend until smooth. Serve chilled, and if using parsley, toss it in or sprinkle on top—just like Grandma did.
Why it works:
This glow blend skips the powders and goes back to basics—real, everyday ingredients that nourish from within. Yogurt supports gut-skin balance, carrots provide skin-renewing beta-carotene, apples and bananas add fiber and hydration, and honey offers a natural anti-inflammatory boost. And parsley or cinnamon can help support digestion.
