Face Exercises for a Natural Mini Face Lift: Real Questions, Honest Answers & What Worked for Me

Visitor Question by Sofia

“Do face exercises work like a mini-facelift? Can it really lift face muscles? I mean, can I get a natural mini-facelift by doing facial exercises?

If so, can you tell me which ones are the most important ones to do? I'm over 50, and my face has fallen, and I can't get it back up! The only anti-aging therapy I've done for my face is Botox, but that's not helping to lift or prevent my lower face from drooping.

I don't want to do Ultherapy or something like that because it's expensive and I've heard the results are not that great, so please don't suggest that option. I want the least invasive way for a mini-facelift.”

My Answer:

Hi Sofia,

Thanks for such an honest and relatable question. I've heard this same concern from so many women—and I’ve asked it myself! I totally understand what you're feeling.

Like you, I didn’t want to go the surgery or high-tech route, and Botox just wasn’t doing anything for my lower face. That’s when I really started looking into facial exercises.

And yes—they absolutely helped lift and shape my face, but there are some things to know:

What You Can Expect from Facial Exercises

Facial exercises won’t give you a surgical-level facelift, but they can absolutely:

  • Add volume to hollow areas

  • Define your jawline

  • Firm up sagging jowls and turkey neck

  • Create a lifted, more youthful appearance

Think of it more like a natural mini-lift over time. In fact, studies have shown that people who do face exercises consistently can look 3–5 years younger than their actual age.

Here’s What Helped Me Most:

I’ve tried everything over the years—from spiral-bound booklets to cassette tapes (yep, that long ago!). Most were too complicated, too rough on the skin, or just too boring. I could never stick with any of them long enough to see results.

Then I found Carolyn’s Facial Fitness (CFF), and everything changed:

  • Only takes 15 minutes

  • Includes massage techniques to boost circulation and relax tension

  • Targets all 57 muscles of the face, scalp, neck, and upper chest

  • Easy to do lying down or even in bed (which makes it easy to stay consistent!)

One of the most surprising things I learned? To lift hooded eyelids and sagging jowls, you actually need to start by firming the neck muscles. The face and neck are all connected!

Reader Question by Bessie (Age 72):

“I’ve noticed lines around my mouth, saggy jowls, and turkey neck. I hate it. I massage my face when applying cream—but what more can I do?”

My Answer to Bessie:

Bessie’s story really hit home. I used to feel the same way when I looked in the mirror—like everything was heading south. Face massage is a great start and helps with circulation, but facial exercises work the muscles underneath, which is key to getting lift.

When I started doing the CFF program 3x a week for just 15 minutes, I began noticing smoother skin and a more lifted look in under two months. By 12 weeks, I hit what Carolyn calls a “Youth Jump”—a phase where you suddenly look a bit younger than before. I’ve had several of those since starting.

I even took progress photos, which helped me stay motivated. My neck looks so much better. You can see pics here.

What to Expect & How to Start

  • Start slow: 2–3x per week is ideal. Muscles need rest days to rebuild and firm up.

  • Track your results: Take a front-facing and side photo every few weeks.

  • Stick with it: It takes time, but results really do compound—especially after 8–12 weeks.

  • Do a full-face routine: Don’t just target one area. A full program ensures balanced results.

Does It Work After a Surgical Facelift?

A reader named Bette123 commented that she had a deep plane facelift but started using face exercises afterward to maintain her results. I couldn’t agree more—surgery can reposition skin, but it doesn’t improve muscle tone or skin quality. Exercises help maintain that firmness and improve your overall glow.

You can even do them while watching TV. 😊

Final Thoughts

Facial exercises won’t replace a facelift, but in my experience, they’ve been the most natural, affordable, and empowering way to refresh my face—and I’ve stuck with them for years. They’re now part of my routine, just like brushing my teeth.

Deep plane face lift vs Non-surgical face lifts through face exercises
by: Bette123

I choose the deep plane facelift surgical method as I do not have enough time to practice traditional facelift methods daily. My grandmother and I live together in my home.

I have been working on-site for years and never got time to care for my skin and health.

Now my grandmother has health concerns, and I have to take care of her too. Due to work-related stress and other responsibilities, I have aged too much. I look way more than my actual age.

So I searched for some treatment methods and found a center where they do the deep plane facelift (www.solomonfacialplastic.com/surgical/face-neck-eyes/deep-plane-facelift-toronto) for an affordable cost.

Do you have any other tips or suggestions on this? How do you deal with stress and care in day-to-day life?

Even after undergoing plastic surgery, face exercises are, by far, one of the best ways to maintain results and improve the quality of the skin.

A face lift does nothing to help the quality and supplements of your complexion. And it does nothing to improve facial muscle tone.

Plus, face exercises like the one I do, only takes less than 15 min. two or three times a week when you first start out.

Then, once you get the results you're looking for, you only need to them a few times a month to keep it. Muscles have memory, so you can keep your beautiful, firmer facial contours easily.

You can even do them while watching TV! 😊

You can see my before and after picture here. They really do work.

While plastic surgery can provide significant enhancements, its results are not permanent, and facial muscles and skin continue to age and sag over time.

However, incorporating regular facial exercises (after receiving clearance from your doctor and once you've fully healed) can help you keep your new beautiful results for a longer duration.

Face exercises can help strengthen facial muscles, enhance blood circulation, and stimulate collagen production, leading to improved skin tone and elasticity.

So by engaging in face exercises, you can contribute to the overall health and appearance of your skin, promoting a more youthful and vibrant look that complements the benefits of your plastic surgery.
